The Hartslog Heritage Museum is a general history museum that focuses on the Hartslog area, including Alexandria, Porter Township, and Waterstreet. The museum occupies the second floor of the Alexandria Memorial Public Library, and its varied exhibits display a wide range of artifacts made or used by Hartslog area people: general store items, period furniture and clothing, a large number of tools of various trades, locally produced fine art, tableware, as well as documentary materials such as photographs and business records.

One of the Hartslog Museum’s very successful activities is Hartslog Day, held the second Saturday of October each year on the library grounds and along Alexandria’s Main Street. This heritage festival began in 1975 and is Huntingdon County’s largest and longest-running event of this kind. High-quality craft vendors and demonstrators, lots of good food, and entertainment all day long make this a “not-to-be-missed” festival.
